Bobby planned a trip to visit St. Thomas, one of their favorite places in the world, in April of 2020. They were both holding on to all hope when the pandemic hit in March that they would still be able to travel, but it eventually became evident that they would not be able to get to St. Thomas in April as all travel into the island shut down. They both kept their eye out for the time flights would resume & the island opened back up, and luckily in early July they found a window of opportunity. They booked their flights and landed in St. Thomas on July 7th. They spent the next few days exploring St. Thomas beaches and waiting for Bobby's best friend Ethan & his wife Michele to meet them in St. Thomas for a couples vacation. They were both excited for Friday, the first day the four of them were together, as Bobby had chartered a private boat to island hop. On that Friday, July 10th 2020 , they spent the day swimming with turtles (something they had on their bucket list), snorkeling & then anchoring at a private beach, Hansen Bay, St. John. They were swimming & exploring the shore when Bobby told Alyssa they should take pictures. As they started taking pictures, Bobby grabbed Alyssa's hand and she immediately started crying as she realized what was happening. He got down on one knee and proposed! Bobby then explained Ethan & Michele were in on the plan & flew down to help them take pictures and videos of the special moment. When they called Alyssa's sister, Becca from the beach she told them she had a special surprise for them. Becca coordinated & cut a video that had messages of congratulations from all of their family & friends, making it feel as though they had all their loved ones there with them. They spent the rest of the afternoon hanging out in Hansen Bay, drinking champagne and soaking it all in.
